The agreed date on which the ownership of the property legally transfers from seller to buyer. This date is fixed upon exchange of contracts.

Completion

On the completion date, the remaining balance of the purchase price is transferred from the buyer's conveyancer to the seller's conveyancer. Keys are typically handed over to the buyer via the estate agent. This is the culmination of the process, when legal ownership officially passes.
